I absolutely love Mumford & Sons album "Sigh No More." One of my happiest moments was last summer with my family on a houseboat in California. While there we celebrated my sister's birthday. My brother gave her this album and we all danced around the houseboat listening to the album. During one particular upbeat song Brittney even danced an Irish jig. If you know my sister you would understand how uncharacteristic that is of her. We all laughed and totally got into the moment. I love thinking back on that glimpse of time. It was carefree. Happy. Full of sunshine.
But today the album spoke to me on a totally different level.
I've been dealing with some "stuff" lately. Some days it hurts a little more than other days. I got home from work a little early and was sitting on my couch feeling sorry for myself. "Forget this," I thought. I got in my car and drove to Target (why not?). On my way there, the song "After the Storm" by Mumford & Sons came on, and it literally brought me to tears. The melody and message was exactly what I needed to hear.
And after the storm,
I run and run as the rains come
And I look up, I look up,
on my knees and out of luck,
I look up.
Night has always pushed up day
You must know life to see decay
But I won't rot, I won't rot
Not this mind and not this heart,
I won't rot.
And I took you by the hand
And we stood tall,
And remembered our own land,
What we lived for.
And there will come a time,
you'll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart,
but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see
what you find there,
With grace in your heart
and flowers in your hair.

You are totally allowed to have one of "those days". Those days usually find a big pink blanket and a yummy (totally unhealthy) treat at my house! If you ever need to chat call me! Thinking about you lots! Hope there aren't too many of "those days" in your future!
I adore this cd an especially this song! I hope things get better Camille! You're so great :)
Hugs. Call me next time. We can jig together.
Love you kiddo. Thanks for the reminder of our houseboat memories--I wish we could all take off right now and be back there. A little sunshine would feel wonderful. See you soon.
Hang in there, Mill Head!
I sure love and am grateful for you. The good things about those 'days' is that sooner or later they have to come to an end! Then the next you find yourself irish dancing... maybe even in target.
I'm sorry you are dealing with some hard stuff. :( Hope everything works out soon.
I hear you girlfriend... you're the best and I'm so glad we got to chat this past week. Love you and I'm sending good thoughts your way (and mine too) :)
I love Target.
I love Mumford & Sons.
I love you!
