Some thoughts.

Sunday, August 8, 2010

Weekends are so precious. I needed this particular one to relax and recharge my battery. I just wish they lasted a little bit longer.

I am so grateful for my friends. My friend Stacie made the comment yesterday that, as hard as it is, living away from family makes you closer to your friends, and I totally agree. You really rely on each other. This last week was another confirmation that I am so blessed to have my friends -- I received some much-needed, unselfish, honest advice the other day, and it is exactly what I needed. Peace of mind is a great feeling.

Date nights with the husband are my favorite -- the picture below was taken after dinner on the Riverwalk (hooray for Groupon!)

Do you know the movie "Say Anything?" It has always been one of my favorites, and we watched it last night. Who doesn't love John Cusak in 1988?

I've got a short work week ahead!!! Water-skiing in the beautiful land of Spokane in T-minus 4 days.

I still can't believe that I've become a morning person. I never, never, ever thought I would be happy to do a 7:00 run on a Saturday morning. I've really come to love the feeling of getting so much done before 10:00 even hits. This can wholly be attributed to Russell.

Have you ever heard of West Elm?!? Maybe I am way late on these kind of things, as I only discovered it here in San Antonio. Now I just drool over the website and wish my house could be this store.

I could keep going, but I need to go make the bed.
Happy Sunday everyone!

Husband-less in Utah

Wednesday, August 4, 2010

Brittney and I were both husband-less for most of the time I was in Utah. Even though we missed our significant others, it was fun to spend some good, quality, two-on-two time with our parental units. Seriously though, we had a lot of fun killing time with Mom and Dad. We talked about the future, discussed issues and events in the present, and memories from the past. I feel so blessed to have been raised by such amazing parents.

I must also say, I was pretty excited about the traditional visit to Cafe Rio, a restaurant I miss like crazy. We went up to Park City for the day on Saturday. Despite the amazing weather, mountains, and charm of the city, it turns out that Cafe Rio was the only event I felt inclined to document.

I also seem to luck out that every time I go to Utah, Fictionist plays a show in Utah. Stuart had just driven in from a show in California the night before. Crazy guy. It was a great show, though, and I'm glad I got to see this brother-in-law of mine, even if just for a few hours. PS. Check out this awesome article of Mr. Maxfield himself; it looks like Stu has a modeling career in his future.

Here is the family outside the venue, where Brittney was reunited with her husband:
Like I said, a short and quick trip to Utah, but I had a great time. See you again at Christmas time, Utah!

{Yes... I did just talk to the state of Utah.}

Welcome to the Married Life, Cuz!

Tuesday, August 3, 2010

As I mentioned in the previous post, I just spent a weekend in Utah for my cousin's wedding. It was such an action-packed weekend. I'll walk ya through it.

See those mountains? Yep, you don't see them hills in Texas. Utah has so much natural beauty--I couldn't stop staring at the mountains. I love how the city is literally right up against them. I miss them. I mean, how could you not?

A few months ago I mentioned my dear Aunt Lisa and how she was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. Most of the tumor was removed, but she is now undergoing radiation treatments to try to kill the rest of the cancer. Needless to say, Lisa is very ill. She was diagnosed after Megan had begun planning the wedding, so it has been amazing to see how all of Megan's family and friends have joined together to help her plan the wedding when her mom could not be by her side step-by-step. My mom volunteered to help as well, so I helped with all the loose ends. Right after I flew in we started FROSTING! My mom made 6 cakes to make up a "cake buffet" for Megan. What do you do with 6 cakes? You frost 'em... till 1 am.

And then the next day Megan got married! She and Sean were sealed in the beautiful Salt Lake Temple.

Megan was so happy. She was also probably one of the most easy-going brides I've ever seen, which made it easy and enjoyable to help with the wedding.

This is my Aunt Lisa and her daughter, Melissa (Megan's younger sister). Lisa has cancer, but you could never tell. Her countenance is so happy and peaceful, especially considering her fatigue and pain. She's inspiring. She has so much faith and knows that whatever happens is meant to be. I have so much to learn from her and this situation. My faith has been strengthened. She wasn't able to attend all of the wedding events--only the actual temple ceremony, which in reality, is all that matters. We were all in the temple together, and I wouldn't have traded that moment for anything.

Here is Brittney, my mom, and my Aunt Kristi from Tennessee. I love how weddings bring family together.

After the wedding, we had to hustle as we were also in charge of all the flowers. Here's the fam loading up the car with buckets and buckets of flowers.

I especially loved Megan's reception because it was at the Alpine Arts Center -- the same place we had our reception! Nostalgia city.

Meet Laura. Laura is a flower/design/craft/photography genius with an endless amount of amazing ideas. She documented my bridal shower beautifully. She took care of all the flowers and bouquets at my wedding! Oh yeah, and she also played around in London with us. Anyway, Laura helped with Megan's wedding as well. Here she is jazzing up some of the cakes with beautiful flowers.

Megan and Sean's wedding was beautiful, happy, busy, emotional, and all in all a great day.
There were some more fun times from the rest of the weekend to document... stay tuned my friends.

P.S. You guys, I really want this giveaway. I know I'm not the only one who thinks Target is the best thing since sliced bread.

Blogging with one eye open . . .

... after a fun, action-packed weekend in Utah! I left poor Russ at home as I went to help out with my dear cousin's wedding. I will fill you in on all the fun nuances of the trip, but as for now, just letting you know I'm alive. The title of this post is referring to the fact that I feel like a zombie. I have 2 1/2 more hours here at work until I can crash. My usual bad luck with flying followed me on this trip, as my plane was 4 hours delayed. That put me in at the ripe hour of 2:30 am. That meant going to sleep somewhere after 3:00 am. Work is at 8:30. Ouch.

I mostly felt bad for Russ who had to come pick me up. He had gone to bed and set an alarm. It made the whole experience worth it seeing him get out of the car to give me a hug. Besides the welcome-home hug and kiss, my favorite part had to be the retainers he had forgotten to take out. Love that guy.

I will leave you with one picture for now. This is our niece, Lucy. She literally melts your heart. She was really excited to show me her Cinderella shoes Grandma and Grandpa Lewis had given her. How is she so adorable?!?!

Russ's Ride

This is when you know you have the coolest car in town:

One Year Down...

Sunday, July 25, 2010

It's our first year anniversary! Hooray! I can't believe a year has already gone by, but as cliche as it sounds, I feel like we have been together forever. I think it's safe to say it's been the best year of my life.

Seeing as today is Sunday and usually gets filled pretty fast with all sorts of church meetings, we decided to celebrate it yesterday. Russell took the reins this year and planned an action packed day.

I woke up to some beautiful roses and a few other surprises. Russ bought me some running clothes and said we were going to start the day off the same way I started our wedding day -- a good run! I loved it! We drove to O.P. Schnaebel park, which is a pretty awesome park nearby that has a huge network of trails, and went on a good, hot, sweaty Texas run.

After getting ready, we went to the beautiful San Antonio temple. We were sealed in the temple last year, so it was the perfect way to start our anniversary and remember that we are sealed together forever, and not just till death do us part. What an amazing blessing!

After the temple, Russ pulls into a Home Depot. Hmm... not exactly what I had in mind for our anniversary, but I'll be cooperative. As we're walking down the aisles, he stops in front of some rebar and tells me to hold it and asks me how it feels. Fine? Kind of dirty? We keep walking, and stop in front of the wooden dowels. After cutting a piece about a foot long, he again asks how it feels in my hands. At this point I'm feeling a little bit like the 12-year-old Harry Potter in Olivander's wand shop. I quickly catch on, and realize I am Harry Potter in Olivander's!!

Confused? K I'll back up... for Russ's job he was told he would be sent on a 2-3 week audit in either Iowa, California, or Orlando. I told him to fight for the Orlando audit, and I would come join him so I could pay homage at the new Harry Potter theme park. Well after pulling some strings, he got the Orlando audit, and all we will have to pay for is my flight to/from Orlando and the park passes. Needless to say, I was pretty excited and felt like a little kid as I held my wooden wand in the car for the rest of the evening. What's in my wand you ask? Just some hippogriff claws and a Phoenix hair. Wingardium Leviosa! (...couldn't resist)

Moving on. We then had a nice dinner at this lovely Italian restaurant called Aldo's. Wow that chocolate cake was yummy. Our cake from the wedding is actually in my sister's freezer in Utah... oops. So we substituted our chocolate cake for this amazing piece, with no regrets. It was amazing.

After dinner we went to the movies! Have you ever seen Inception??
Holy cow, I think I'm still trying to figure it out. Really amazing movie -- I'd recommend it.
Anyway, it was a great anniversary, and I can't wait to finish celebrating it when we go to Orlando in August. Here's to one year, and infinity more to go!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Friday, July 23, 2010

I love, love, love this picture of us kids with my mom. We were on vacation on the beautiful Oregon Coast. Whenever I look at it, I am reminded of how my mom was so influential in providing us with such happy childhoods.

A few reasons why my mom is my hero:
  • She has sacrificed so much to raise our family. We are all out of the house now, but that doesn't mean she doesn't continue to shape and mold us into the people we are today.
  • She never stops serving people!
  • She can run like nobody's business. I'm not kidding -- she can bust out a 10 mile run on any given day. I will be like her someday.
  • Is one of the most organized, put-together, talented woman I know.
  • Always lends a listening ear.
  • Taught me the power of a good fountain drink.
I get to see my mom this next weekend where we can really celebrate, and I really couldn't be more excited. Sometimes a girl just needs her Mom.

I love you, Mom!

Stressed out

Thursday, July 22, 2010

We have exactly 2 months till our lease is up and you know what that means... where do we go next?!? I have literally been losing sleep over this all week.

The main problem with where we live now is it's REALLY FAR AWAY from work... and most other things in San Antonio. But mostly work, which unfortunately, is where we spend the majority of our week and travel to and from twice a day. The summer months have been lovely for the daily commuter, but come fall the freeways turn into parking lots, which for me, means up to an hour each way at it's worst. THIS IS NOT FUN FOR ANYONE (we have learned that a Camille who sits in traffic after a long work day is a grumpy Camille, which is not fair to poor Russell). Just remember this important fact, and try to imagine yourself doing the same thing daily.

We have been looking at tons and tons of rental houses (we are trying to avoid apartments. It's time to leave the apartment life. It just is.) So if any of you lovely blog readers have some sound advice, here are the main issues:
  • We could live closer to work (which would generally be more central to everything else)
  • If we live closer to work, we move further away from friends we have made in our current area
  • Perhaps this would show who we really are friends with! (Distance shouldn't be that big of a factor... right? right??)
  • Moving gives us an opportunity to make even more friends?
  • How much are we willing to budge on our price? Bigger? Nicer? Closer? Further?
  • I have an inkling that this decision is about a lot more than the location, it you catch my drift. Sometimes you don't know why you were prompted to make decisions till much later. Remembering this only makes me more stressed.
and last of all...
  • Am I totally over-analyzing this?!?

The End of the Great Experiment

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

The experiment has come to an end. I know you have all been waiting to find out the results of my little test of the Topsy Turvy vs the regular potted plant. Unfortunately, my testing environment was invaded by a hideous monstrous plague. I found this out one afternoon when I went out see my plants and found this.

A fat green caterpillar ate all the leaves off of my plants! I was depressed for a couple of hours thinking of all the tomatoes that could have been. In the end, we only got 6 tomatoes. 4 from the Topsy 2 from the pot. So you know what this means. The topsy turvey produces twice as much as a potted tomato plant! I'm going to be submitting this work to a few academic journals and see if I can get published. I will let you know how it goes.

Coasters

Saturday, July 17, 2010

Russ went out of town again this week. This is what our living room looked like when he got home.

If you're thinking "so what? You vacuumed." No, I did not. The vacuum is my official cricket killer. I'm not exaggerating when I say the bugs know when Russell leaves -- they invade the apartment full force. Within an 8 hour period I probably had to kill 5 crickets (crickets the size of cockroaches, mind you). But I'm not brave enough to actually kill them. I just slowly approach them and suck those little guys right into the vacuum. They die eventually.

I didn't realize how ridiculous the other part of this picture was until Russ got home and laughed out loud at me. Looks like I need to invest in some coasters to protect our coffee table. Russ's spare sock just hadn't quite made it from the clean laundry basket to the closet... Hey, at least the sock was clean.

In other news, I ran a 5K this morning with 3 of my friends. I realized I hadn't done a 5K since freshman year of college! I guess I just got way into long-distance training. I had no clue what to expect with this race, considering I haven't been training for speed, it's SO STINKIN' HOT HERE, and the humidity makes you feel like you can't get a legit deep breath, especially while exercising. Anyway, here are the girls post-race... in all our nasty sweatiness, frizzed out hair, and red faces:

Me, Stacie, Andrea, and Shantelle

All in all, I am pretty happy with my time. Major improvement from my freshman-year race, and especially with the crazy Texas conditions. I do have to give a major shout-out to Andrea. This girl is a machine! Stacie and I only aspire to be like her. SHE GOT FIRST PLACE IN OUR AGE GROUP finishing the 3.1 miles in 21:09. Yowzers!
Here she is! Running aficionado. She is now starting to train for her 7th or 8th marathon... I can't remember. Like I said, she's pretty awesome.

Yay for running friends! It was a fun race. Only in Texas do they offer breakfast tacos and orange soda for your post-race refreshment.

Make Up Your Mind

Thursday, July 15, 2010

So we all know how sometimes life doesn't always go the way we expected it to, right? Yes, I'm pretty sure we have all learned this time and time again. But the craziest thing about this fact of life is that somehow, someway, it always works out. It's all about the attitude you keep. Mr. Abe Lincoln knew this to be true, and expressed it so well with the following quote:

 via

If you're wondering if I'm going somewhere with this, I'm not really. Life is really good, and I am so grateful for everything I have. I mean, let's be honest, if I had it my way I would, for example, be able to see my family whenever I want. I could have been there to help celebrate Stu's birthday, and tagged along with Brittney and Stu as they saw Sir Paul McCartney the other night (yes, I know, they saw a Beatle, and I did not. And I am so happy for them, but would be lying if I wasn't a smidge jealous). Or, Russ and I could have gone to the Lewis family reunion at the beautiful Aspen Grove near Sundance and shared those precious memories with the rest of his family. Or, I could be up in Spokane with my parents, spending our free time boating on the lake, which is one of my favorite places to be in the world.

But alas, real life is here, and you know what? It's good. It's really good. If I have learned anything in the last year of my life, it's that sometimes you need to make up your mind to be happy, and after you do this it's pretty much a guarantee that your outlook on life will be a bit brighter.

Shamu Sized Proportions!

Friday, July 9, 2010

We just spent the evening with Shamu! And our red cup. Yes, we love our cup. It is a Sea World season- pass-holders exclusive cup, where we spent $25 for free refills ALL YEAR. Just bring the cup, and the Diet Coke, Thelma's Frozen Lemonade, and all other sorts of goodness flow year long (a necessity when it's 95 degrees outside with 90% humidity).

Tonight was perfect, however, as it had been a rainy day and thus the temperature was a bit lower and the crowds were a bit smaller. And I got to spend another night with my best friend, which was the best perk of all. Even more than the red cup.

Double Rainbow!

Thursday, July 8, 2010

I have to publicly thank Caitlin for officially making my day. I was at work. 3:00 came... and we all know what happens at 3:00 -- yes, the afternoon office job slump. Then this video came into my life, and I could not stop laughing. And then I showed Sada, and we were both suppressing muffled laughter for probably 10 minutes.

Here's to appreciating the little things in life.

Happy Birthday America!

Sunday, July 4, 2010

We are so proud to be Americans! I love this country and am so grateful for the freedom we have.
God bless America!

It has been a good weekend so far, consisting of sleeping in, relaxing, and flying by the seat of our pants. The weather has thankfully cooperated enough to allow for a few BBQ's... which is a must in Texas. Again, God bless America.

The girls at tonight's BBQ. From left -- Shantelle (a new friend!), Stacie (the hostess with the mostest), Andrea (new to San Antonio, which we are so happy about!), and moi.

The Dude picture. From left -- Brett (married to Stacie), Aaron (married to Shantelle), Russ (married to me), and Scott (married to Andrea).

Oh, it's been a good weekend. We even got to watch the Sea World fireworks tonight from the Valero gas station parking lot with Brandon and Megan. Classy, I know. But it was still fun. And here's the best part -- the weekend is still going! No work tomorrow = happy Camille.

Hope all y'all have had a happy and safe 4th of July! Here's to America!

The Yellow Desk

Saturday, July 3, 2010

I bring you the craft desk. When Russ and I went to buy paint, I was confident I was going to go with a safe, clean white. He persuaded me to "go all out and get something fun" -- and I'm so glad he did. We went with a bright and cheery yellow appropriately named "tulip." It definitely brings a pop of color into the room, and it makes me happy just to look at it.

We happened upon another great addition to our apartment a few weeks ago. We have been wanting to buy a coffee table, but dang! Those are expensive! So I had been craigslist-ing and searching Target and Wal-Mart for some bottom of the line table that would "get us by." On our way to my company party we stopped by the outlets. They have the store of all stores -- Pottery Barn Outlet. Yeah girls, you read that right. It's dangerous and amazing all at the same time. They had a beautiful and solid, real wood coffee table for 75% off!!! It was just about the same price as all the fake wood tables I almost bought from Wal-Mart. Oh we love our table.

I'm still looking to either make or buy some other accent pillows to go with the gray & yellow pillows I bought from Target a few weeks ago. And something to put in that lone silver bowl. One thing at a time, Camille. So here is the view of our living  / dining room with the new couch, craft desk, and coffee table. The door on the right is our front door...

... it's a great little place to come home to at the end of the day.

Word to Your Mother

Friday, July 2, 2010

This home slice is back! He flew in last night from Cincinnati, thus making it back before I felt the need to resort to the ingenious Japanese invention to fill that empty void.

He also has work off today, and I did not (shocker!). We ate our cereal together this morning while watching Full House. As I walked out the door to go to work I told him to get a job since I can't support his lifestyle of sitting around the house on a weekday in his basketball shorts. But that was just a funny joke I will never get to say again, since he is actually an incredibly hard worker, and his company just rocks in the vacation department. Oh, I'm so funny.

Someone else has arrived in San Antonio -- our friend Alex! And by Alex, I mean the wonderful hurricane-type weather that has hit this side of the country during the Fourth of July weekend, therefore squelching all ideas of laying by the pool and eating fabulous food at BBQ's. Major bummer!

Needless to say, I'm still happy about the three-day weekend, and to have my gangsta husband back home where he belongs.

Vase Hunting

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

So it may or may not be Sada (my partner in crime) and my secret wish to quit our current day jobs as tax accountants and start an Etsy store or something where we make fabulous hand-made creations all day long... oh, and get paid luxuriously for it.

And then we wake up, and resort to eating a Lean Cuisine at our desks real quick so we can fit in going to Goodwill during our lunch break. These pretty little vases (sold to yours truly for just $.99 each) are the first victims of Sada and Camille's crafting shenanigans.

I felt like the ultra nerd as I pulled out my camera at the check out, in none other than Goodwill. We were just so excited to actually be starting a project. I think the cashier wanted to seriously hurt us, especially since she had to wrap up a good dozen or so of these vases.

I'm not going to reveal what we plan to do with these vases just quite yet, but I promise I will show you the final result, assuming it all goes as planned.

It's all in a days work, people. All in a days work.

One Smart Woman

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

Got this email at work today, and I literally laughed out loud. Ask my office buddy, I did.
Barbara Walters, of 20/20, did a story on gender roles in Kabul, Afghanistan, several years before the Afghan conflict.  She noted that women customarily walked five paces behind their husbands.
She recently returned to Kabul and observed that women still walk behind their husbands.  Despite the overthrow of the oppressive Taliban regime, the women now seem to, and are happy to, maintain the old custom.

Ms. Walters approached one of the Afghani women and asked, 'Why do you now seem happy with an old custom that you once tried so desperately to change?'

The woman looked Ms. Walters straight in the eyes, and without hesitation said, "Land Mines."
Moral of the story is (no matter what language you speak or where you go), BEHIND EVERY MAN THERE IS A SMART WOMAN.

In other news, I apologize for the lack of blog posts. Usually when Russell goes out of town I blog like there's no tomorrow. But this time not so much. These last few weeks have crawled by having him gone. It sure does get lonely after a while! Maybe I need to invest in one of these:

I wonder if that will do the trick? Well, instead I have kept myself busy by painting a certain craft desk a bright and cheery yellow (picture soon to come), and drooling over craft sites with craft projects I only aspire to do. If only there was an endless amount of time, money, and space to create and display these craft projects... Anyone else feel the same way?

Office Jobs.

Friday, June 25, 2010

I have four words for you:

THANK GOODNESS IT'S FRIDAY

Here is one of the many stacks of tax returns I am sifting through today. Oh, office jobs. You are so lovely.

But it is almost the weekend, which means a few things --

a) I get to pick up Russell from the airport (he has been in Ohio all week for business. It's been a long week.)
b) I get to catch up on much needed sleep
c) We will be hanging out with Shamu tomorrow at Sea World
d) I don't have to look at this stack of returns... until Monday.

My Book List

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

One thing I love about vacations is the chance to catch up on reading. As is expected, we spent a lot of time on trains/buses/planes in Europe, so we got in some good reading time. My most recent book list includes:

Little Bee, by Chris Cleave

This was recommend by my Mom, who is an ultimate reader (seriously a book a week, at the very least). It tells the story of two women from very different worlds -- one from London, one who is a Nigerian refugee -- whose worlds collide. My eyes were opened to some of the refugee scenarios that go on in countries such as Nigeria, and how amazingly blessed and fortunate I am! Not the happiest book on the planet, but incredibly powerful and eye opening.

The Love You Makeby Peter Brown

Ha! Not a big surprise right? Russell gave this book to me for Christmas, and I was excited but was expecting just another tribute to the Beatles. Boy was I wrong. I was completely fascinated the whole time, and continually pestered poor Russell with "guess what!" and "did you know..." and more. I thought I knew everything about the Beatles, until I read this book. Peter Brown, the author, was a personal assistant to Brian Epstein and The Beatles during the 1960s. Warning to Beatles fans contemplating this book: It's very honest and literally spills everything that the Beatles did. They lived rock n' roll lives, and you read ALL about it. It's not a fast read either, but who wants to make reading about the Beatles go by faster? Not I.

The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins

Oh this book. I give this book 5 stars, warning you that you will not be able to put it down. My friend Holly had been raving about this series, so we borrowed the book for our trip. Russ read it first, loved it, and then it was my turn. And now we are slightly obsessed. The only sad thing is we got back to reality, and don't have endless hours to read anymore. Solution? We are listening to Catching Fire (the second book in the series) on tape during our lengthy commutes. I now love driving to work. (kidding, but it is now tolerable). What am I going to do when I finish #2? Wait till August 24th when Mockingjay comes out? Oh the pain.

Dad Day

Sunday, June 20, 2010

“The older I get, the smarter my father seems to get.” ― Tim Russert

Isn't it the truth??

I hope every father in the world feels honored and loved on this day and all the days to come. The role of a father is invaluable to a child. They provide a source of strength, security, and protection, among many other things.

As I have gotten a little older, I have thought about my own upbringing, and the man I am honored to call my Dad. My dad is my hero. He has so many traits and qualities I hope to emulate in my own life. He has taught me so much -- by both his words and his example.

I miss my Dad like crazy. I haven't seen him since CHRISTMAS, and we have yet another month till we get to spend a few days together. It's really hard being apart for so long, but in a way I feel we have gotten closer.

On the same vein, I feel so blessed to have married into a family with yet another amazing example of a father. I have learned so much in the last year or so of our marriage as I have watched and observed my father-in-law in his day-to-day actions. He puts pride in everything he does... whether it be his job, house, or his family. Thank you, Randal, for supporting Russell and I in everything we do!

We really are so blessed to have two amazing men to honor on this Father's Day. Thank you for everything you do for us. We love you!

Cadaques -- The Last Stop

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

We have made it to the last post of the trip (sigh of relief). Cadaques is a beautiful, small town on the coast of Northern Spain that has resisted too much modernization and somehow kept somewhat of a secret from the throngs of tourists. It was the perfect way to end such a busy, sometimes stressful, and fast-paced trip.

Here is the view from our hotel room

We spent a good hour or so laying by this lovely pool at our lovely hotel. I loved the bright red flowers against the blue and white decor.

We walked along this path to find the delicious pizza we enjoyed for dinner.

One of Salvador Dali's famous paintings is of this very town. We went to the very place where his point of view was for the painting. And then we bought a small print -- it is now hanging in our apartment.

So remember how we had to buy a new camera? Well a bonus tripod came with it (which I maybe got a little too excited about). We are amateurs at photography... is this what you use it for?

Just kidding, we know how to use a tripod... kind of. Here is the view from that chapel at the top of the town

This next picture is mostly for my dad. When I was a little girl I used to watch Little Mermaid literally every day. I was obsessed with that movie. It has always been "our movie." My dad would walk down and catch me up against a couch like this pretending I was Ariel -- you guys know the scene. Well, I got to relive the moment in Cadaques.

Cadaques by night. So lovely.

Goodbye Europe.
I will never forget this trip. It was Russell and my first "huge trip" together. We learned so much about each other and our marriage while on this trip. And not only that, we planned and paid for it all on our own... a process that really makes you appreciate it. We saved and saved, and I'm so glad we did. Being there with my sister also made all the difference. We are all so very blessed. So many memories were created that I will never forget.
